Convert OFX to QFX

Generic OFX files from banks work in many financial applications but may not import cleanly into Quicken without the Intuit-specific INTU.BID element. Converting OFX to QFX adds this element and produces a file that Quicken can match to your institution.

The conversion is straightforward: QBOConvert reads the OFX file, identifies any existing FID and ORG values, and adds INTU.BID from your selected bank preset or manual override.

Questions

Why does Quicken reject generic OFX files?

Quicken uses INTU.BID to map a transaction file to a financial institution in its list. Without this element, Quicken may still import the file but you'll need to manually associate it with an account on every import.

Is QFX an open standard?

No. QFX is Intuit's proprietary extension of the OFX standard. OFX itself is an open standard defined by the OFX Working Group. The INTU.* elements are Intuit additions not part of the base OFX specification.
